New England Dining >>> Blue Moon Cafe, Medfield, Mass. The Blue Moon Cafe, Medfield, Mass., Expertly Focuses on Freshly-Made FoodsArticle by Eric H. If you're looking for a restaurant to visit more than once in a blue moon, we recommend dining at the Blue Moon Cafe in Medfield, Mass. This isn't your quick-stop comfort food shop, either, as the Blue Moon bypasses unhealthy ingredients (to help, perhaps, prevent you from having a bypass), and instead uses milled organic flour in its breads. The Blue Moon also avoids trans fats of any kind, and can accommodate those with gluten sensitivites, as well as those who are on a vegan diet. In a nutshell, you'll find no preservatives, chemicals or additives here. The Blue Moon Cafe cooks in small batches throughout the day, and the flavors of each and every food we've tried reflect that concept. Some of our favorites, in no particular order: the cracked wheat sourdough and cinammon swirl breads, tomato basil soup, chicken pesto sandwich with fontina cheese of ciabatta bread, meatloaf panini, chicken tarragon salad sandwich, whoopie pies, and blueberry muffins. Best bagels include the sesame, cinnamon raisin, multigrain and Black Russian. Once a small hole-in-the-wall type storefront, the Blue Moon has expanded and updated its interior over the years with booths, couches, and a friendly community-oriented atmosphere. The staff knows its customers and vice versa, making for a true "local" gathering place. The Blue Moon also features a nifty use of social media in the above YouTube video. We recommend checking it out, and trying the Blue Moon Cafe -- a VisitingNewEngland.com favorite in Norfolk County. Blue Moon Cafe and Bagel 236 Main St. Medfield, MA Tel. (508) 359-8880
