QUESTION: What makes VisitingNewEngland.com so different from other travel sites covering New England?

As mentioned above, we write from a local perspective. We are motivated by our travel experiences, not just trying to make a dollar. In a sense, we are a reflection of our readers.  We are always looking for the best things to do in the area we live. When we experience a positive travel-related experience, we pass the information along to you.  It's like you telling your neighbor about your favorite local restaurant, place to stay or other special

As part of a small, but unaffiliated group of New England travel Web Sites produced by locals, VisitingNewEngland.com brings you a unique travel perspective on New England that can only come from someone who lives there.

QUESTION: Do you write positive reviews in exchange for advertising?

Never! Our personal belief is that indepedent businesses like ours lose integrity if we make such "arrangements." We always write straight-from-the-heart and will not be influenced by this type of bartering. We stress honesty and objectivity in our travel essays, and do not believe we can accomplish this impassioned mission by writing something nice in exchange for a paid ad.

QUESTION: Have you been to all the places you write about?

We have been to all the places written about in our travel essays. On the information and resource pages, you might find a small amount of information passed along to us by neighbors, friends as well as "e-mailers"  we deem to be authentic. We also run press releases from state and local chambers of commerce; the "source" is always listed.

QUESTION: Does VisitingNewEngland.com offer travel brochures on New England?

No, we consider the VisitingNewEngland.com Web Site to be an online brochure. Additinally, brochures usually have a marketing element. We are not here to market New England; rather, we are in business to tell the New England story through a detailed and personal perspective.  You could use our site like a travel guide with a twist: we keep updating our site and add information on a weekly basis.  It's sort of like buying a travel book and watching it frequently expand on its own. We feel we owe much more to you, our valued readers, than a few sound bites from a brochure!

QUESTION: Do you sell books on New England travel?
We will eventually write some books on New England, but for the time being, we offer you The Great New England Bookstore, with New England books, maps and travel guides. We stay up-to-date, selling many 2010 publications.

We certainly do. You can access The Weekly New England Travel and Vacation Gazette blog at http://newenglandtravelnews.blogspot.com. QUESTION: Do you write anything negative about New England travel?

We generally try to avoid writing negative things about New England. there's so much negativity in the world that we prefer to focus on the positive.  We also realize that, for example, a restaunt or hotel, can have a bad day.  To review a place based on one bad experience might not reflect the overall excellence of a business. We know most businesses work very hard to excel and we'd prefer not to harm their businesses by writing a review that thousands of people can read weekly at our site.  We would just rather not write about these places and just focus on all that's good about New England!
