New England Humor What If These New England-Based Businesses Merged? Article by Eric H. Based on a recent hilarious Jay Leno skit on the Tonight Show about businesses that should never merge, we pose the following hypothetical questions on what New England businesses would be renamed if they merged: If Honey Dew Donuts merged with Wright Farm (Nasonville, RI) and Dudley Automotive Services (Arlington, MA), the new business would be called Dudley Dew Wright. If The Big E (Eastern States Exposition, West Springfield, MA) merged with the Town of Falmouth, MA, it would become The Big Mouth. If Mr. Bartley's Burger Cottage in Cambridge, MA merged with the Sherman Cafe (Boston) and The Town of Peabody, MA, the new venture would be Mr. Peabody and Sherman If The Massachusetts towns of Bedford and Rockport became one community, it would become Bedrock. If the Massachusetts towns of Shirley and Templeton combined, it would be called Shirley Temple. If Hill Jewelers (Norwood, MA) and Point of Pines Yacht Club in Revere, MA merged with B&M Baked Beans (OK, not based in New England), the new company would be called Hill of Beans. If the Town of Wakefield and the Upper Crust Pizza chain came together, the new name would be Wake Up. If The Head Shed hair salon in Walpole MA moved to Ayer, its new business could be called Ayer Head. If Nocera's Restaurant (Stoughton, MA) merged with the Town of Canton, MA, and Honey Dew Donuts, it would be called No Can Dew. If the former Rom's restaurant in Sturbridge reopened and merged with Emmanuel College, we'd have Rom Emmanuel. And if F1 Boston (Braintree, MA) merged with The Burren Restaurant (Somerville, MA), Boston Market and the air traffic controllers at Logan Airport, Boston, we'd have F En Boston Traffic. |
