Camden ME looks ready-made for a postcard. Located in mid-Maine, Camden has a classic Down East coastal feel featuring a pleasing mix of mom and pop shops, boutiques, galleries, cafes, lodging (some with water views) and harborside restaurants featuring lobster and clam chowder. It's charming rather than cheesy, a classic Maine summer destination that is tourist-friendly without letting go of its beautifully scenic template. There are four beaches (two ocean side, two fresh water) within three miles of downtown Camden. Additionally, you can kayak just steps from all the shops, or take a cruise on Windjammers or schooners. Mt. Battie creates an amazing scene where the ocean meets the mountains -- you can drive or hike to the summit where you'll fins spectacular, panoramic 360 views of the mountains, islands and rocky coastline.
