The gazebo in Essex,
Conn.

No matter what time of year, the gazebo
in downtown Essex provides a respite from the hectic pace of
modern-day civilization. Even before entering the gazebo, you're
relaxed as the park-like setting and the wonderful views of the
Connecticut River are enough to make you say "This is where
I will spend my day."
Essex is regarded as one of the best
small towns in America. It is tucked away in a compact south
central Connecticut setting with great little stores, the historic
Griswold Inn (lodging and dining), and most importantly, the
opportunity to "get away from it all." We recommend
starting your New England vacation off perfectly by strolling
the downtown en route to the gazebo where the breeze is sweet,
the birds chirp, artists situate to capture the Connecticut River
