Article by Eric H., lifelong New England nativeBird Park in East Walpole, MA, features 89 acres of wide-open spaces, forested areas, serene small ponds, stone bridges, a network of paved paths for strolling, a playground for five and under and a pavillion for entertainment. It is the ultimate town park, an oasis in the middle of rapidly developing suburbia. Surrounded by tree-lined streets with healthfully aging homes and a classic New England church with a tall white steeple, Bird Park and its surrounding area feels old-fashioned. We thank the Trustees of Reservations (overseeing 53,000 acres on 94 reservations in Massachusetts), for acquiring the land in 2003! It's a true gem that the local community embraces, as seen by the many people who come here to enjoy the simplicity of walking and enjoying nature.
Bird Park is located on Washington Street in Walpole, MA. Tel. (508) 669-6136. We encourage you to also visit the Trustees of Reservations Web Site
