New England Dining>>> SoupWorks, North Attleboro Mass. SoupWorks, North Attleboro, Mass., Offers the Ultimate in Comfort Food ![]() Article and photo by Eric H. SoupWorks in North Attleboro, Mass., goes way beyond its name. Plain in appearance with wide tile floors, a counter to sit as well as order food, and several tables, SoupWorks features daily blackboard specials including six daily soups, a sandwich and entree. The regular menu has all the comfort food bells and whistles that anyone could ever want from the categories of appetizers, soups, half-pound burgers, comfort food dinner entrees, signature sandwiches, "soup and sandwich," and "build your own sandwich." SoupWorks also offers a children's menu with favorites like grilled cheese with fries chicken toes with fries, ziti & sauce, fried fish with fries, cheeseburger with fries, ham or turkey sandwich with chips, and mac and cheese. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better turkey dinner (with delicious stuffing and gravy), sirloin tips (cooked just right), fish n' chips, homemade mac and cheese, New England clam chowder (about the most flavorful we've ever had), lobster bisque, chicken soup, or beef chili, anywhere -- including those "fancy-schmancy" restaurants that charge twice the price. Salads transcend the typical, too. The "Salad Athena" Greek Salad arrives in a huge dish and has feta cheese on a bed of mixed greens with Greek olives, tomatoes, bell pepeprs, sweet red onions, banana peppers, cukes and fresh croutons. The Greek dressing is fantastic. The "Salad Athena" is a meal in itself and the vegetables are vibrantly colored -- when was the last time you saw that in a Greek salad? SoupWorks is a great value, too. No matter what you order at Soup Works, the portions are huge with most dinners coming in at between $10.00 and $12.00! We've always experienced great service here, almost like you've arrived in a family member or friend's kitchen -- which makes sense, given the restaurant's origins. For a tour de force of this wonderful storefront restaurant, we recommend browsing the SoupWorks menu. Better yet, check out this hidden restaurant gem if you're ever in the North Attleboro area (off Route 95, not too far from the Rhode Island border). We, at VisitingNewEngland.com, rank SoupWorks in our top five favorite restaurants -- the food is that good! SoupWorks 20 North Washington St. Downtown North Attleboro, MA Tel. (508) 699-5073 |
