New England dining >>> Taso's Euro-Cafe, Norwood MA Taso's Euro-Cafe in Norwood, Mass., Defines the Meaning of "Hidden Restaurant"Article and photo by Eric H. VisitingNewEngland.com Traveling a remote back road -- far removed from the close-knit, densely populated neighborhoods of Norwood-- will bring you to this unassuming storefront located next to the tiny Norwood Airport. At first, you might say "Ahh, I don't know about this place," but after eating here you might just be saying, "Let's go back tomorrow." Turns out that Taso's offers some of the best Greek-American foods we have experienced in the Boston area for lunch and dinner, including roast leg of lamb, pastichio (ground beef and ziti), chicken and lamb souvlaki, mousaka (eggplant, potatoes and beef), spinach pie and some fabulous baklava for dessert. The Taso's Euro Platter is a "big" specialty: lamb chops, pork chops, Loukaniko (Greek sausage), fried calamari, roast chicken, fried chicken wings, stuffed grape leaves, tomato salad with feta cheese and Kalamata olives, French fries, Tzatziki sauce and garlic bread. It serves two to four people, but I would say closer to four. Taso's also makes an excellent mac and cheese, Greek-style pizza, and fried chicken and seafood dinners. You can also order a sub here, but I wouldn't recommend it, given the amazing Greek-American dishes. Looking like a mix of a big sub shop and diner, Taso's certainly won't win any beauty contests for atmosphere; its attractiveness resides in its wonderful homemade Greek-American dishes, as well as its friendly, family-owned and operated pride of ownership. The service is always pleasant and because of that, it's easy to feel right at home here. For first-timers you're initial arrival at Taso's might seem rocky, the flight quite fantastic with the wonderful choices of food, and your departure with thoughts of how soon to return to this simple, superb little restaurant with the unlikely location near that tiny airport. Taso's Euro-Cafe 125 Access Rd. Norwood MA Tel. (781) 278-0001 (closed on Sunday)
