We are conveniently located at the entrance of the Carrabassett Valley which is a favorite vacation spot for people seeking outdoor recreation. During the summer/ guests enjoy hiking the Appalachian Trail/ rafting/ white water canoeing/ camping and fishing. The Herbert is also a favorite for nature photographers and artists. The autumn ushers in a scenic splendor as the leaves change colors and the foliage peaks. Additionally/ we are centrally located to several of the most plentiful hunting and game sites in New England. As autumn transitions into winter/ the Carrabassett Valley enters its peak season. The Herbert is close to Sugarloaf and Saddleback mountains which provide excellent cross-country/ alpine and nordic skiing and the Blackfly Loop/ a system of snowmobile trails running throughout Maine and into New Hampshire. Note -limited front desk hours- 8am-9pm//Manager on-duty available on-call/on-site afterhours and no in-room telephones.
