Virtually everyone loves "best of" travel lists for their trip planning, so why not include New England? I feel that New England is one of the most beautiful, interesting areas of the United States with its ocean beaches, mountains, historic cities, quaint small towns, scenic town commons, restaurants with plenty of seafood, plenty of family-friendly things to do, and a geographically compact presence so you can often travel from state to state in just hours. While you'll find plenty of mall and outlet shopping destinations, the true retail treasures are located on the back roads of New England in the form of friendly mom and pop shops including some of the greatest country stores you'll ever find.
