The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont features some truly scenic, undeveloped Vermont landscape. While St. Johnsbury and Lyndonville act as the commercial centers of this region, it's not entirely convincing given that these communities look more like unassuming small towns rather than cities or vacation tourist traps. The rest of the region creates a visual that we imagine Vermont to look like, with its majestic mountains, rolling green hills, and in the fall, some of the best fall foliage you'll find in the state.  The foliage just looks all that much better when there's an absence of commercial development. Here, in this photo from Burke Mountain in East Burke, the commanding views lend a magnificent taste of Vermont in the fall; the area is also well-known as a ski destination in the winter with 43 trails on 240 acres.
