Taunton, Mass., has given an amazing Christmas gift to residents and visitors since 1914: the Lighting of the Green and Lights on Festival.

The Christmas-on-the-green celebration and displays -- initially started to bring shoppers to downtown Taunton -- has brought in more than 2,000,000 people since the beginning to take in the amazing light displays and other Christmas decorations. The Taunton Green Christmas scene is, arguably, the best small city Christmas lights and display presentation per square foot in all of southern New England. No wonder Taunton has been known for more than 100 years as "The Christmas City!"

The 2018 Taunton Lighting of the Green and Lights on Festival will take place on Sat., Dec. 1, from 3 p.m.-8 p.m.

The Festival's opening night typically offers live entertainment, kid's activities, fireworks, and kickoff of the lights and displays, but if you miss this special night, no worries. The magical Christmas scenes, through the delightful saturation of lights and displays, resonates brilliantly during December at this beautiful New England town green in the heart of the city.
