Fall leaves, a crystal clear lake and
mountains in the background. What's not to love about Lake
Winnipesaukee at Cate Park in Wolfeboro, N.H.?
There's something to be said about the "quieter" side of Lake
Winnipesaukee where lack of honky tonk and abundance of peace and
solitude set the right balance. Granted, the main street in downtown
Wolfeboro can become quite busy in the summer and early fall. Taking a
few steps into Cate Park behind the town center, however, changes the
whole scenario. It's one of those strange travel phenomenons where you see all
these cars parked around the corner but not that many people present.
Nothing against people, mind you, but we love the relative isolation
from the crowds and the chance to take in unobstructed views of all the
good New Hampshire things like the lake and mountains, as well as
foliage settling in wherever its pleases. In this case, as seen in the
photo above, resting on some bushes.
This is one of our favorite places in all of New England. The picture tells a thousand New Hampshire words on why.
OK, that was pretty cool but where to
now? How about...
