Crashing ocean waves produce a symphony
of feel good sounds that calm, relax, refresh, revitalize and stir the
soul. Our connectivity to the sea comes to no surprise -- water is a
life giving force, after all.
The magnetic power of the sea also draws us into the coast in almost an innate,
spiritual
way designated for a lifetime. Think of the first time you
saw
the ocean, a lake, a river... heck, even a swimming pool. That special
feeling never went away, did it? Heading to the coast is almost like attending Mother's
Nature's mass for a sermon on the sacred inspiration of the sea.
For me, ocean waves comprise a big part of the sea's appeal -- just as much
as the sand and sun. The circular motion of the water remains the same
24/7 but its personality differs with every look. Kind of life
snowflakes -- every drop is different.
York, Maine remains a personal favorite place to watch the ocean waves.
From sunrise to sunset to the darkness of the sky, it never gets
old!
Here are some scenes that we share with you of those glorious ocean
waves York, Maine-style...
First thing in the morning can bring
some spectacular waves juxtaposed with a dramatic sky.

The power of the sea looks so imposing
but, simultaneously, reassuring that the crashing of waves will be always
be with us.

The motion of the ocean pounds on the
rocks.

And those waves always find a way up, over and around the rocks.

The sight of waves is especially pleasing in the presence of Nubble Lighthouse, shiny rocks and a creamy orange sky!

Nubble Lighthouse at sunrise.
Daylight at the sea brings a
completely different personality than sunrise but just as impressive--
and there's no need to wake up early if that's not your cup of
tea.

York Harbor beach.
Green-tinged waves bring us a color
that we always love to see.

Short Sands Beach.
Those who live near the coast sure
have it good with these ocean wave views!

Expansive views of the ocean
juxtaposed with the mainland -- and some seaweed on the rocks --
provide a pleasing setting to watch the waves.

Let's not forget, either, about the
ocean waves at night. When the high tide arrives, there's sometimes no
stopping its force.

Long Sands Beach.
It looks like the ocean version of
fireworks exploding into the sky at night.

Well, there you have it -- a look at ocean waves throughout the day.
