The Beef Barn lends rural
charm and delicious roast beef to the Northern Rhode Island dining
scene

It's hard to have a beef when
it comes to the Beef Barn in North Smithfield, R.I.. One of the
great lunch and dinner values in Western Civilization for nearly
40 years, it's not a stretch to order a sandwich, drink, fries,
drink for around $5.00. The Beef Barn specializes in delicious
roast beef (they make about 500 sandwiches a day), although one
can not go wrong with other sandwiches like tuna, hamburger or
chicken. Desserts vary; we once sampled a wonderful carrot cake.
The atmosphere is incredibly
appealing with its silo (once part of a real farm), a huge, authentic
indoor stone wall covered with antiques, wood carvings, an open
kitchen, and "nooks and crannies" side rooms that feature
mock chicken cages in the walls and other rural farm accents.
The 85-seat restaurant features a counter with stools, and booths
and tables.
The Beef Barn sits on the Woonsocket
line in Northern Rhode Island, which is kind of like Green Acres
being juxtaposed with three deckers and other urban elements.
Even though the Beef Barn rests on a busy street near the city,
its rural charm and family-friendly atmosphere, great value and
service keep the crowds coming in to enjoy a home away from home,
country-like dining experience.
