Borderland State Park, in Easton and Sharon, Mass., is one of the most impressive, pristine parks in eastern
Massachusetts. Operated by the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation, the 1,570 acre park is ideal for light recreational activities like walking, biking, horseback riding, canoeing and in the winter sledding, ice skating and cross country skiing. Leach Pond is absolutely beautiful and affords a few miles of scenic walking or biking around the loop. Wide expanses of open land, and forested areas combine with the pond to make for a truly quiet, beautiful haven for outdoor enthusiasts.

Borderland State Park also features a 20-room, three-story stone mansion (closed until spring 2010 for renovations), once owned by artist and suffragist Blanche Ames and her husband. Wonderful place -- so pristine and unspoiled and only 35 minutes southwest of Boston!
