Dedham Community Theater Stands as a Marquee Attraction in Dedham, Mass. ![]() Article and photo by Eric H. The Dedham Community Theater in Dedham, Mass., is a definite "must-see!" Established in 1927, this grand old movie theater with a classic patterned red-carpeted lobby, old-world archways, and an authentic outside marquee not only offers newer movies but also occasional stand-up comedy and birthday party rentals. There's also an oddball attraction, located in the basement: the Museum of Bad Art, a truly awful but worthy travel attraction "dedicated to the collection, preservation, exhibition and celebration of bad art in all its forms." The art has been purchased from some unknown amateurs, dusty attics, thrift stores, yard sales and trash cans! Much like its well-preserved historic downtown Dedham Square location, the Dedham Community Theater brings us back to another era where many of us enjoyed the magic of a local neighborhood movie theater where, unlike the mammoth modern movie theaters, you don't need a GPS to navigate the facility. They just don't make them like this anymore. Dedham Community Theatre 580 High St. Dedham, MA Tel. (781) 326-0409
