Fox's Lobster House, in York, Maine,
hits on all four Maine
dining cylinders: Maine lobster, fresh local seafood, Maine wild
blueberry pie and homemade ice cream.
Within clear view of the famous Nubble Lighthouse and the Atlantic
Ocean, Fox's
has that classic roadside seafood shack look with a lobster sign in
front, an ice cream stand to the right side and the smell of seafood
mixing pleasantly with the salt sea air.

Inside, Fox's is more than a seafood shack with a cozy, stylish but
informal dining room with ocean views. On the left side of the
restaurant are a gift shop and the "lobster pound" where the lobsters
are just a stone's throw away from your dining table.
For many, the best menu item is the Fox's Famous Shore dinner with
boiled Maine lobster with drawn butter, a delicious New England clam
chowder (best I've tasted thus far in Maine!) or lobster bisque, single
portion steamers with clam broth and drawn butter, choice of baked
potato or French fries, choice of garden salad or Caesar salad, and
dinner rolls and butter.

Another great selection is the Lobster Crumb Pie with succulent lobster
meat baked in buttered crumb stuffing.
Fried and broiled seafood dinner highlights include the broiled maple
salmon, fish and chips, seafood medley (with scallops, fresh haddock,
and sweet salmon" and fried clams). Fox's also features filet mignon,
fried chicken baskets, sandwiches, pastas and fresh salads, but the
real draw is lobster and the authentic wild Maine blueberry pie. Make
sure to complement that slice of pie with deliciously thick, creamy
homemade ice cream -- preferably, vanilla or wild Maine blueberry!

A most yummy Maine dessert.
Summer cocktails, a beer and wine menu, and a children's menu round out
an overall great coastal Maine seaside dining experience with amazing
water and lighthouse views at the restaurant and around all of
beautiful Sohier Park.

Service is terrific -- attentive, intuitive, good with kids and with
many staff returning year after year (a sign of good management). It's
especially heartwarming to see wait staff enthusiastically recognize
returning vacationers from previous years with authentic greetings,
conversations and hugs included.
With its wonderful location, lobster, seafood, Maine blueberry pie and
ice cream, Fox's is ultimately what you would expect from a Maine
seafood restaurant. What makes them so special, however, is that few
run this kind of restaurant better. Make sure it is a part of your
coastal Maine dining experience.
