What do you call a restaurant that serves club sandwiches as
good as the best diners around, clam rolls on par with Cape Cod seafood
shacks, and burgers that often surpass the trendy burger joints?
Kravings Grille and Ice Cream in Millis, Massachusetts!

Kravings Grille and Ice Cream, Millis, Massachusetts.
Suburban restaurant fans, take note: this is not your average,
run-of-the-mill fast food stop. I have continuously been blown away by
the large portions of comfort foods, and the artful way many have been
prepared. Many of the dishes would fit right in on those Food Network
shows. I came in thinking it would be another average family restaurant
and left planning on when to return as soon as possible.
Providing great value for the money, the stellar club sandwiches (the
tuna is a
tremendous choice), burgers and clam rolls are part of a big menu
offering homemade soups, over sized salads, humongous sandwiches, fried
seafood dinners and jam-packed lobster rolls. "Baskets" are also a
specialty: chicken fingers, chicken kabob, double hot dogs, and
more. Kravings earn extra brownie points, too, for its excellent,
perfectly-formed sweet potato fries.
The other day I had a Greek salad with a mound of delicious homemade
chicken salad. The feta cheese was ample and the greens fresh and
crisp. It was a meal enough for two people.

I am a big fan of Greek cuisine and have a good idea of what is
authentic from this category (even though I am not Greek). Kravings
does a terrific job with its spinach pie, mousaka and souvlaki dinners.
They also offer gyros wraps and dinners: pork, chicken and Loukaniko (Greek Sausage, pictured below, and phenomenal!).

Loukaniko gyros wrap -- with French fries in the mix (great idea!) -- from Kravings in Millis.
Another standout: the Greek chicken rice bowl with grilled chicken, red peppers, feta cheese and Greek dressing...

The Greek Lamb Gyro Bowl with lamb gyro, diced tomatoes, red onions, feta and Greek dressing. is another standout dish,,,

Additionally, you can never go wrong with Richardson's Ice Cream -- one
of the best local ice creams -- and Kravings offers many of its hard
flavors,
as well as an excellent variety of soft serve ice cream. Lime and
raspberry lime rickeys serve as a great alternative to ice cream -- or
have both, if your sweet tooth is so inclined!
Desserts go beyond ice cream, however, at Kravings with cakes and parfaits like this Oreo version...

An on-site owner who has connected with the community, a spacious,
clean dining room and outdoor seating during the warmer weather have
also helped
make Kravings an instant local favorite, especially for families in the
Millis area. Some local restaurants of this genre have gone downhill in
the past few years -- or overcharge for small portions -- so Kravings
has arrived at a great time. Additionally, downtown Millis has been
building up
beautifully as part of an ambitious economic development town plan.
Kravings has become a
staple, of sorts, to that downtown scene, in a very short amount of
time.
Millis does have some excellent dining choices, but, right now, I would
choose Kravings as my go-to dining out stop when visiting this
pleasant, semi-rural small town about 50 minutes southwest of Boston.
The folks at Kravings clearly know how to make comfort foods the right
way, far beyond the norm in the local fast food, comfort foods scene.
