Lord's Department Store in Medfield, MA, Brings Back the Feeling of Shopping from Another Era (CLOSED) ![]() ![]() Article and photos by Eric H. Sad news: Lord's will be closing on Feb 28, 2013. We have written an article on Lord's Department Store closing, including some personal reflections. Thank-you, Lord's for all those years of running a wonderful business. We appreciate you so much! If you liked shopping at Woolworth's and other old-fashioned downtown department or "Mom and Pop" stores as a younger person, then you'll love visiting Lord's Department Store in Medfield, MA. The luncheonette features black and white tile flooring, a long counter, rotating stools, nostalgic memorabilia and an old Coca Cola machine. New owner Michelle James runs a spotless, well-run, charming retro dining spot here, paying attention to every detail of what makes a luncheonette innately special. For starters pride of ownership is the best it has been in years as Michelle has everything freshly painted, won't tolerate a spec of dust anywhere, goes the extra mile to make customers feel at home, and is dedicated to making much of her food from scratch. What a treasured discovery Ruthie's is for breakfast or lunch, whether it be for pancakes, waffles, a burger, a fresh fish sandwich, or ice cream sundae! Lord's won't offer you the variety that the big-time department stores do, but that's fine with us. We enjoy the friendly, small-town atmosphere, the welcoming staff, the inventory that services us well, and the chance to feel good about shopping in a store that brings us back to a gentler time. ![]() Lord's Department Store 446 Main St Medfield, MA Tel.
