New England Patriots Owner Robert Kraft and family have scored a touchdown (and conversion!) with the vision

to merge shopping with football with Patriot Place at Gillette Stadium in Foxboro, MA. Although the combination might seem improbable ("Hey, I have a great idea, lets go shopping before the football game!"), the result has, no doubt, become a major travel attraction that, we feel, everyone will like. With a dynasty football team already in place within a state-of-the-art football modern stadium, the addition of a 1.3 million sq. ft. shopping, dining and entertainment provides an extremely appealing presence. There's an upscale movie theater called Showcase Cinema de Lux, several restaurants, The Hall at Patriot Place (celebrating Patriots and New England football history) and shops that offer a great mix for men and women, (like Bass Pro Shops, Victoria's Secret, Christmas Tree Shop, Reebok, Aeropostale, Bed, Bath and Beyond, etc.). The Renaissance Boston Hotel and Spa and Brigham and Women’s /Mass General Health Care Center are relatively new additions, both with world-class presences in their respective fields. In the colder season, Winter Skate at Patriot Place offers a well-maintained, affordable 60-by-140-foot public outdoor skating rink for skaters of all levels.

We especially like the idea of going to Red Robin for a burger, the huge Bass Pro Shops which is like a mini-Disney World for the outdoor enthusiast, and the aforementioned Showcase De Lux Cinema -- where there is in-theater dining and 14 giant movie screens). Patriot Place is certainly a brilliant concept, which really brings a presence to the formerly underutilized southwest Boston suburbs -- and a true destination for travelers to the area.
