New England Dining >>> New England Soup Factory, Newton and Brookline, MA Dining Review The New England Soup Factory Creates Delicious Homemade Soups and Chowders Article and photo by Eric H. You'll find favorites here like chicken vegetable, clam chowder, chili con carne and beef stew, alongside unique offerings like chicken pot pie soup, sweet potato and chicken barley soup, curried crab and coconut soup, split pea with spinach, baked potato and chive, spicy shrimp and rice, tomato and butternut, and Greek orzo and lemon soup. My favorites are the chicken pot pie soup and chili con carne, both about as substantial as I've ever experienced in these two genres. The New England Soup Factory also makes some nice-looking "gourmet" sandwiches, but it's unlikely I'll ever order one, as my affinity resides with the soups and chowders. Husband and wife team owners Marjorie Druker and Paul Brophy have concocted more than 100 soups since the Soup Factory's inception in 1995 -- one of these days, we'll get to try them all! This is the type of comfort food we love best: healthy, hearty and heartwarming for all four New England seasons. And to think, I used to enjoy those store-bought commercial soups!
