Tock of the
Town Restaurant in Medfield, Mass., Ticks with Delicious Hometown Meals (CLOSED)
Article and photo by Eric H.
The
Tock of the Town Cafe and Grille, in Medfield, Mass., looks like just
another cute, local breakfast and lunch dining spot, but transcends the
genre by displaying a clear interest in preparing freshly-made foods
and a gratefulness to all who visit this friendly restaurant.
The
Tock family greeted us with a warm welcome, almost feeling
like we were relatives just arriving to eat at our favorite aunt and
uncle's home. Granted, Tock of the Town doesn't look like a home with
its several tables and chairs within a rather typical, small dining
area. The look and feel is dark, cozy, full of local conversation and a
staff that gets a full workout in by doing whatever it takes to operate
a restaurant successfully. The staff is constantly on their
feet, yet the everyone remains pleasant and dedicated to making the
customer feel right at home.
We've all heard
that it's hard to screw up breakfast, but the other side of the coin
is, how much better can a restaurant do to distance itself in quality
from the rest of the pack? We found the latter to be the case at Tock
of the Town with a freshly-made, hearty tomato and cheese omelette,
chocolate
chip pancakes, some of the best sweet potato fries we've tasted
anywhere, and a fantastic tuna melt. We enjoyed every bite and
appreciated that we weren't just eating at another restaurant that
slapped on a few deli meats to some stale bread and then have the
nerve to call themselves a restaurant. Our tastes bud told us a
different story at Tock of the Town.
Tock of the Town also serves waffles, soups, salads, burgers, club and
panini sandwiches and wings in ample portions. They also serve New
England coffee and different varieties of tea.
We look forward to
trying each and every one of these items in the future, knowing that we
leave with our appetites satisfied and our money going towards a nice
family that is trying very hard to bring another quality dining spot to
Medfield. On our first visit, we felt quite hopeful about Tock of the
Town fulfilling its hard-working, "customer and food quality first"
mission.
Upon leaving, several staff said "Thank-you" "Have a nice day"
and "Stop by again" with not one of the staff saying these familiar
phrases out of phoniness or through a management's mandate. They really
meant it, and we really mean it when we say we can hardly wait to
return to Tock of the Town. Others feel the same way, as Tock of the
Town is quickly becoming the "talk of the town" given the way this
restaurant has popped up in conversation more and more amongst
the "locals."
