This family-style ice cream restaurant near the Attleboro, Mass., line features an impressive selection of homemade ice cream flavors and sundaes, and comfort foods with a twist like meatloaf wrapped in bacon and a baked mac and cheese that almost seems the size of Norton -- no Velveeta here. The ice cream highlight: an amazing gingersnap molasses busting with flavor and every bit as good as the much heralded Kimball Farm Westford version. With tables, a counter, carpeted floors and friendly service, Uncle Ed's comes across as homey as its name and prices that are more retro than modern. You won't find any gourmet ice cream prices here and most breakfast, lunch and dinner items fall in at under $10. Additionally, the weekend brings dinner specials -- we saw many fried seafood dinners on the menu. This is Uncle Ed's second location -- the original being located in Rehoboth, Mass. Judging from the ice cream restaurant's presentation , this welcoming little place will, no doubt, come across as a favorite uncle when it comes to family restaurants!
