There's something so special and exceptional about Jimmy's
Pizzeria in East Walpole, Massachusetts.
Pizza and sub shops don't always consistently come across this way:
welcoming atmosphere, community-oriented, spotless surroundings and
food made from love instead of short-cuts.
Jimmy’s Pizzeria owner Themis Kalemkeridis loves coming to work every
day and locals deeply appreciate him for his restaurant, outreach to
the community including helping those in need, and just being a great
all-around person. A Katerini, Greece native who grew up in what he
describes as a "loving home," Kalemkeridis brings an incredibly hard
work ethic, gratitude and a pride of ownership to Jimmy's Pizzeria which
has been in business for more than 20 years. His wife, Athena, younger
brother and Jimmy's manager Yianni, and a friendly and efficient staff
help makes Jimmy's the wonderful place that it is.

Of course, a welcoming restaurant needs to serve great food, too, and
Jimmy's delivers quite well. Jimmy's Pizzeria -- named after Athena's
father, Jimmy Exarhopolous -- transcends the typical pizza and sub shop
fare. As examples...
The Greek salad features fresh veggies and delicious feta cheese --
much better than what I have found at so many other pizza and sub shops
around New England. I could eat three of these in one sitting....

The Chicken Parmesan spaghetti dinner has more in common with
versions from the North End of Boston. The homemade taste of this dish
can't always be found at restaurants of this genre in the suburbs...

The Greek-style pizza leaves behind the excessive grease well-known in
Greek pizza places, and instead prioritizes a sweet, flavorful taste
with the right combination of cheeses, homemade tomato sauce and
alternatively crunchy and soft crust...

The calzones are another highlight at Jimmy's, cooked slightly crispy yet chewy on the outside and loaded with cheese and toppings on the inside. This Steak Special with cheese, steak, peppers, onion and mushrooms with homemade pizza sauce on the side is simply outstanding...

And the subs go well beyond the typical house of pizza fare including this mouthwatering chicken parm....
From Jimmy's: chicken parm sub.
I have so many other favorites at Jimmy's, but if I had to choose one
more dish, it would be the gyros wrap with perfectly-seasoned and generously served meat, French fries, soft and chewy Greek flatbread, a wonderful Tzatziki sauce, slices of tomato and onion, and that great Greek salad on the side. This gyros wrap clearly surpasses many of the top-notch Greek restaurants specializing in this form of sandwich. It is my favorite gyros wrap in the Boston area!.

Also amazing is the
"Themis Special," a white pizza with sliced tomato, Kalamata olives,
red onions, feta cheese and oregano, as well as the amply served
calzones.
I refuse to write at VisitingNewEngland.com about any business that I don't love, and Jimmy's is
no exception. It might just be however, at the top of my list, for
pizza and sub shops that excel on every level. If every town and
city had a Jimmy's, I do believe that locals would frequent this
category of restaurant more often. I just love this place!
