Article and photo by Eric H. Four out of five Kennebunkport, Maine, residents recommend Alisson's restaurant when dining out locally.Thankfully, the recommendations were spot-on. Alisson's provided us with an attractive casual atmosphere and cuisine. With its downtown Dock Square location, Alisson's is indeed a popular dining choice with its handsome hardwood-look, prices within reason, and a little something for everyone from its extensive menu. Couples can dine on chowder and lobster for date night, bar flies can sample a brew and nachos, buffalo chicken wings and crab cakes from the pub fare, and families can delight in lobster rolls, pizza, fried seafood, chicken parmesan, chicken tenders and burgers. The acoustics and the way the dining rooms are sectioned off are such that no one seems to be impeding another's dining experience -- so a couple on a date, for example, won't really notice kids screaming for ice cream. We loved the perfectly-seasoned sea bass special with a delicious cucumber dill sauce, as well as the very tender scallops with lemon parmesan risotto and fresh root vegetables. It's hard to think of a better experience we've had with seafood on the Maine coast -- this is noteworthy, given the high-quality competition in an area known for great seafood. The service was professionally friendly, quick and efficient It's also nice to see a restaurant with a sense of humor, too. The "Ribert Dinero" is a charbroiled six oz. prime rib on sub roll with garlic mayo, while the "Chickoby Ellsbury" (named after the Boston Red Sox centerfielder) is a grilled chicken wrap. If we lived in Kennebunkport, Alisson's would be a regular dining hangout. The food was that good, and the variety would have us coming back to sample more from the myriad selection. Given that it's a place for us to dine on vacation, however, we have one more thing to look forward to when visiting Kennebunkport again, sometime soon.
