When thinking of a happy place, C&L Frosty in Sherborn, Mass., comes to mind.

Time-tested and beloved since 1975, C&L Frosty remains a household name in this beautiful, close-knit west of Boston suburb. While it's true that ice cream, burgers, fries, onion rings and other comfort foods are capable of putting a smile on one's face, it is the presence of caring business owners and a faithful customer base that has made C&L Frosty a truly special place.

Original owner Chris Hadjigeorgiou handed over the comfort food keys to Millis couple Dimitra and Arthur Kalivas, and they faithfully, respectfully and passionately have continued the wonderful tradition. With C&L Frosty in his DNA, however, Hadjigeorgiou continues to work there with his familiar wide smile and gracious manner.

From post-soccer games gathering to family nights out, crowds frequent C&L as if it was a community meeting center. Lucky, them, this unofficial community center serves great classic comfort foods.

The Kalivas have pretty much kept the restaurant business recipe that has worked so well for generations, but do have a new outdoor sign, as well as an updated kitchen that includes a fryer that identifies and automates correct frying levels. Other than that, it's business as usual.

Whether its dinners, sandwiches, baskets, salads, soups  and, of course, Richardson’s Ice Cream, soft-serve ice cream, sundaes, frappes, floats and Slushies, it's all great, as confirmed by the three generations that come here. It's easy to see why...

C&L Frosty still makes fresh burgers by hand, the signature, mouthwatering onion rings from scratch, and by bringing in whole clams from coastal Ipswich, as examples of creating food from love rather than by short cuts.

“Our goal is to exceed standards,” said Dimitra. “Any improvements we can make, we will. We listen to our customers. We could add specials, more healthier options, maybe gluten free and I think we will do all that ... But Chris has built something great here and we are not going to make big changes. People love C&L Frosty for the food and as a community gathering place!”
