Find discount rates on hotels, inns, bed and breakfasts and motels in the beautiful, historic Boston, MA, suburb of Concord, MA. In Concord, it's easy to get a sense of Colonial times and its history by visiting historic Walden Pond, the Monument Square town common, the historic Concord's Colonial Inn (see below) for some traditional lodging and dining, the Old North Bridge, the Old Manse, the Concord Museum and the Ralph Waldo Emerson House. Concord's sense of history goes far beyond attractions, however. Just walk stroll the leafy historic streets and feel the history in many sections through a high concentration of homes and buildings from that era. Our favorite historic travel destination is the Old North Bridge. Here, you not only get a sense of history (the location of the first day of battle in the Revolutionary War), but also some splendid scenery. The Concord River, alongside with the Bridge, is absolutely stunning to look at -- especially at sundown -- and the meandering wide, dirt trail leads to old trees, open land vistas and the Buttrick Estate "Secret Gardens" -- a network of paved stones and steps offering beautifully terraced gardens and more views of the Concord River. The Buttrick Mansion was built in 1991 by descendants of Maj. John Buttrick, who first told his Soldiers to fire upon the British. The estate is a stately brick mansion that houses a book store and exhibits as well as offering a short video about the fight at the North Bridge. The Old North Bridge is also right next to the Old Manse, the former home of Nathaniel Hawthorne. It's not well-known, but Hawthorne rented! The top 10 things to do in Concord...

by Eric H.,

Take a 45-minute walk around peaceful, tranquil and scenic Walden Pond -- the former home of author Henry David Thoreau. It's a great swimming place in the summer and a wonderful place to reflect in the fall, winter and spring.

Shop local at the many downtown Concord shops, ranging from boutiques to specialty food shops.

Experience Colonial charm with a lunch or dinner at the Colonial Inn in the heart of downtown Concord.

Take in a bit of American history at the Old North Bridge -- where local Minutemen experienced its first American Revolutionary War victory by forcing the British to retreat back to Boston on April 19, 1775. Today the Old North Bridge area seems more like a peaceful walker's oasis with the placid Concord River, a quiet country path leading to "secret gardens" and the stately visitor center known as the Buttrick Mansion.

Visit Verrill Farm for fresh produce and specialty products, a sweet smell in the air and beautiful farm views.

Sample one of the region's best pizzas at New London Pizza at Depot near downtown Concord.

Canoe down the scenic Concord River.

Trek to neighboring Carlisle for a relaxing and tasty visit to the seasonal Kimball Farm ice cream stand.

Enjoy the historic town common feel of Monument Square in downtown Concord.

Experience a highly-sophisticated but oh-so-fun children's museum at the Discovery Museum in nearby Acton.
