The Kayak Centre is not only one of the best kayak and stand up paddle board shops in New England, but has also brought back life to a historic landmark in Wickford Village, Rhode Island.

When The Kayak Centre moved into its spectacular 6,000+ square ft. new space, outdoor enthusiasts found an anchor for their outdoor recreation activities. And Wickford Village finally saw a quality store take over the legendary Ryan's Market with its community roots going back to the late 1800s. Ryan's had, unfortunately, been closed for the past 10 years and the vacancy undermined Wickford Village's marvelous presence as one of the great coastal villages in New England with its mix of delightful locally-owned shops, scenic water views, and the highest concentration of historic homes of any town in the United States. It just didn't look right seeing a large empty store in this idyllic North Kingstown village. For proof of the village's wonderful vibe, let us digress for a second before landing ashore back at this Kayak Centre article...

While The Kayak Centre has served Wickford Village and the State of Rhode Island, in general, as a premier outdoor recreation shop at various locations since the mid 1990s, the new location puts everything together under one large roof. It's beautiful sight: a small town business realizing the American Dream and for customers, the boating equivalent of a kid going into a candy store. This is the place to go in southern New England for kayak and stand up paddle board sales, rentals, tours, instruction and an excellent selection of outdoor gear and accessories. The staff really knows its stuff, as they "walk the walk and talk the talk" as experienced paddlers.

The location couldn't be better, either. The Kayak Centre resides so close to the peaceful waters in Wickford Village with its harbor or more natural settings where the chance of being bothered by weekend warriors and the "Joe Six-Pack" crowd is far less than in some other Rhode Island locations...

It's really like the best of both worlds: buy or rent a kayak or stand up paddle board at The Kayak Centre and enjoy the beauty of Wickford Village -- a truly underrated New England coastal travel spot. It's nice to know that The Kayak Centre is part of that wonderful community by providing a much-needed, year-round service in its fantastic new digs!
