One visit to Lee's Candy Kitchen in Meredith, N.H., and it's easy to feel like a kid in a candy store no matter what age.

This is one of those requisite  "must-see" destinations in Meredith, a beautiful lake and mountains town in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire. Lake Winnipesaukee might have the scenery to die for in town, but Lee's Candy Kitchen provides  wonderful scenery of its own with an outstanding presentation of sweets.

Now to some, an "outstanding selection" might mean enough to choose from to satisfy an afternoon of snacking. Lee's Candy Kitchen, on the other hand, offers enough to perhaps last a lifetime. The cheery, delightful store offers more than  1,000 different selections of colorful retro candy and gummies, delicious homemade fudge and chocolates, and specialty foods. It's really hard to know where to turn first, so the best bet is to go with your first choice (s) and enjoy. OK, no it isn't -- the store deserves a complete look as it takes on a hall of fame, of sorts, of the best candies out there. If Lee's Candy Kitchen wasn't a store, it would be a great candy museum!

Lee's Candy Kitchen probably sees most of its customers during summer vacation and the fall foliage season, but take note that it's a virtual retail wonderland during the Christmas holiday season with beautiful presentations saturating the store. It's really a wonderful place to purchase a gift(s) and get in the season's spirit.

Side note: If deciding to shop during the Christmas season, you are in for one of New England's greatest holiday travel treats with spectacular  scenery just down the street at Lake Winnipesaukee...

Located in the charming Mills Falls Marketplace --  a beautifully restored mill building with shops, restaurants, lodging at the famous Mill Falls at the Lake, brick walkways, flower gardens, a 40-foot waterfall, and great views of Lake Winnipesaukee -- I highly recommend starting your Meredith visit at this central location, and making sure Lee's Candy's Kitchen is part of the overall experience. It's definitely one of the best candy stores we have been to in New England.
