Moon Over Maine for Dinner at York Beach

Our enjoyable day at York Beach,
Maine, now reflected in the rear view mirror.
As early evening
approached, my wife (Joan) and I shared thoughts on how to extend the
waning moments of a day trip before heading home to "civilization." Or,
was it that we were about to leave "civilization" in beautiful Maine?
We ultimately decided to dine at the Sun and Surf
Restaurant, a terrific dining out
spot specializing in fresh seafood, as well as offering an idyllic
location with stunning, close-up ocean views. While waiting for our
dinners, Joan looked out over the sea to take in the
most spectacular sight: a full moon rising alongside Long Sands Beach
and Nubble Lighthouse.
With both of us awestruck by Mother Nature's majestic expression, Joan
suggested I take a few pictures to capture the quickly changing scene
that, quite frankly, never quite looked this way at home. I
respectfully jostled for position with a few other camera enthusiasts
at the edge of the outside dining patio to come up with several good
captures. I think the one posted here came out best, so I thought I'd
share it with you.
It's hard to top a day taking in all the summer glories of a Maine
beach town with the sand, surf, rocky coast, amusements, homemade ice
cream and salt water taffy. In this case, however, the end of the day
brought a new beginning of travel memories, thus validating that it's
not the time one spends vacationing but what's in the moment. Living in
the present indeed brings the greatest joys.
