BAD NEWS, PIER 18 CLOSED IN AUGUST OF 2013. WE WILL MISS YOU!
Article and photo by Eric H. (posted May 27, 2007) Pier 18 is not just for breakfast anymore. What started out as a morning-only bacon and eggs restaurant now stands out as one of suburban Boston's finest seafood restaurants. The small, informal Pier 18 Seafood and Grille in East Bridgewater, MA, packs in the lunch and dinner crowds in search of hearty lobster dinners at below restaurant market value, a delicious creamy clam chowder full of clams and not potatoes, and some of the best "steammahs," and or steamers around, depending on your geographical origins. In addition to the aforementioned lobster dinners, Pier 18 makes a lobster roll jammed packed with real lobster that draws rave reviews from local residents who know something about seafood. Pier 18 also serves variations of baked and broiled scallops, salmon, haddock, cod and shrimp dinners as well as extensive fried seafood selections (including an absolutely fantastic fish and chips dinner). On the non-seafood side, Pier 18 makes an incredible, spicy Portuguese kale soup with beans, sausage and enough kale to make you a regular customer in terms of business loyalty and digestion.Pier 18 has a full liquor license. In addition, desserts include homemade-tasting chocolate cake, pies, grapenut pudding, and vanilla and chocolate ice cream. With friendly, down-to-earth service and a true local feel, Pier 18 would probably be a household name seafood restaurant if it were located somewhere on the Boston waterfront. For now, people around the East Bridgewater area are proud of their own little dining secret knowing that they don't have to travel far and pay high prices for seafood that is every bit as good as many of the more popular seafood restaurants in the city.
