Why Planet Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Franklin, Massachusetts Doesn't Feel Like a Typical Car Dealership

Nearly 35 years of being mistreated, manipulated and generally treated like dirt by car salesmen and service people came to a screeching halt a few years ago when we discovered Planet Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram in Franklin, Massachusetts.

Yes, this is a New England travel site and an article on an auto dealership here might seem odd, but I know many of you have traveled around the area looking for a car dealership that respects the customer. How has that worked out for you? I know I got tired of instances like having cigar smoke blown in my face, and a sales person refusing to give my car keys back unless they could talk more about me buying a car from them.

Since purchasing a Chrysler Town and Country in June 2014 and a Chrysler 200M in 2016, we have experienced the best overall customer satisfaction in four key areas of an auto dealership: sales, financing, service and collision. Our salesperson, Peter, exhibited a most professional and personable style and just as important, lots of substance -- that is, knowledge of his job, the overall industry and a firm grasp of working the initial finances. It was nice to know the price up front and not have a bunch of jackals, in the form of human beings, pounce on us at the very first sight of a potential sale. Additionally, during our two visits to buy a car, we found the selection of autos to be outstanding, too. Following up after the initial sale, Business Manager Joe Shell exhibited great knowledge of his field and communicated to us in detailed, yet layman's terms about the best financing options. We have found many in his field of work to talk in circles and, ultimately, try to sell what would work best for the company instead of the customer.  Joe was more like extended family -- very pleasant and out for our best interest.

The service department -- typically the bane of a customer's relationship with an auto dealership due to a relentless hunger to  make the most money off your car -- has been nothing short of ideal at Planet. Dan, Nick, Travis, Mike and staff are honest, friendly, articulate and sensitive to the customer's wallet and what needs to be done immediately and down the road. At other car dealerships, there is often no "down the road." If these guys worked in corporate America, they would probably be employees of the quarter and find frequent promotions.

My wife was in a car accident last year and, thankfully, escaped any serious injury. During the process of having the car fixed at the Planet collision center, Mark Aldo -- a really good guy who tells it like it is -- showed care, compassion and, along with staff, an efficiency in getting our car fixed correctly.  It took some time to have our car returned, but in retrospect, Mark sought perfection and wouldn't release the car until every critical element of repair passed the center's high standards. It was also nice to have someone lend an ear and converse for a few minutes during this stressful time.

I strongly consider Planet Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram a tier one car dealership that runs exceptionally well on all cylinders. The car buying process, historically, is often about as pleasant as getting a root canal, but Planet Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram, on the other hand, comes across more like painless dentistry. There are so many nice people here, including women who clearly work at the highest level of professionalism. The owners seem humane, raising over $100,000 for Special Olympics Massachusetts.

There's something to be said about honesty, authenticity and professionalism in a car dealership, and Planet Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram seems like they are on a planet on their own, in the very best sense, when it comes to operating a legitimate car dealership. I highly recommend them.

Planet Chrysler Jeep Dodge Ram is located at 400 East Central St. in Franklin, MA. Tel. (877) 504-6084.
