Restaurant 45, Medway, Mass.
Seventeen Reasons to Enjoy Restaurant 45 in Medway, Mass. ![]() Article and photo by Eric H. From the outside and inside of this sprawling building, Restaurant 45 looks like a restaurant, feels like a restaurant and acts like a restaurant. Translated, that means great atmosphere, food and service at reasonable prices. Now that might sound like a corporate restaurant chain advertisement, but this locally-owned restaurant follows through in a more personable, thoughtful and tasty way. Validation: the locals line up here for lunch and dinner, everyday. For every one restaurant elitist critic that pans restaurants like this, there are hundreds of people that let their taste buds do the talking instead of trying to sound important through the pen (or computer). Here are 45 reasons we think you'll love Restaurant 45: Homemade pizza. This isn't the "made yesterday" and "heated today" kind. Tastes like its made-from-scratch with the right mix of tangy tomato, cheese as well as a slightly firm crust. Fresh seafood, beyond what you'd expect in a populist restaurant. Particularly good is Jeffrey's Seafood Sauté with sautéed shrimp, sea scallops and salmon with sun dried tomatoes, spinach, roasted red peppers, onions, roasted pinenuts and fresh basil in a white wine and garlic butter sauce over angel hair pasta. Great steaks (had a prime rib that is in the "prime" time of best prime ribs amongst restaurants we've tried). Homemade bread that we couldn't get enough of -- one of the freshest we've had in many years of dining. Amazing lobster and corn chowder chowder, with a full-boided but not overwhelming taste A wide variety of Italian food, including chicken, eggplant and veal parmesans, shrimp scampi, and Cioppino (shrimp, sea scallops, haddock, calamari, littlenecks and mussels in a seasoned tomato seafood broth over linguine) Fantastic Caesar salad -- the salad dressing isn't too heavy and certainly not watery Excellent homemade desserts like the brownie sundae Fresh vegetables accompany each meal Kids meals appear to go beyond your typical restaurant afterthought including well-made and presented versions of cheese pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, penne Alfredo, chicken fingers with French fries and Hot Dog with French fries Cozy, hardwood floor dining room with a touch of class -- casual enough for families, nice-looking enough for a date night. New 1,400 sq. ft.. lounge with relaxing cherry woodwork decor Three function rooms, seating 20 to 400 people Friendly efficient service. Our waitress treated us like family. Great drinking list for those who like to enjoy adult beverages. Nearly 40 wines, 16 bottled beers, 10 draft beers and several specialty drinks A comprehensive catering list Take-out available Restaurant 45 appeals to all types of life, carrying on the tradition of the former Speroni's restaurant at this location. Restaurant 45, however, has taken the Speroni's foundation of excellent Italian food, bringing it to the next level with a wide variety of steaks, chicken and seafood. From the wonderful aroma of steak cooking drifting to the parking lot to the wonderful food and service on the inside, Restaurant 45 resonates as an obvious upper echelon casual dining choice in the southwest suburban Boston region.
