What's better than a beautiful sunset? A beautiful sunset on an ocean beach facing west!

Old Silver Beach in Falmouth, Mass. consistently takes high honors for being in the right geographical location for brilliant sunsets. While many New England beaches face due east, Old Silver Beach sports a western view that allows the most spectacular sundown views.  Most people know Old Silver Beach as a dear old Cape Cod friend during the daytime but those who wait it out or stop by later experience Mother Nature's colorful glory capping the end of a blessed day.

Of course, not every evening will produce memorable sunsets so our suggestion is to first tune into the local forecast. Then if affirmative, enjoy this wonderland of colors and patterns in the sky and thank the west for gracing us with these peaceful scenes. Keep in mind, also, that you don't have to aim for perfect skies to witness a great sunset. Often, higher clouds yield nicer sunsets as they catch the sun's rays thus resulting in potentially vibrant red and orange colors.

There's nothing quite like a vibrant sunset at Old Silver Beach in Falmouth, Massachusetts.

For you camera buffs looking for the ideal setting --- well, there isn't one. A lot of picture taking is trial and error. The first picture you see in this post was taken at 80 ISO, F5.0 with a 2000 shutter speed.

Don't be too concerned about your camera/smarthphone and whether you will get good photos, however. Just take in the magnificent scenes, breathe in the salt sea Cape Cod air and live for the moment. It's not every day, after all, that you can witness sunsets like this!
