Tootsie's Ice Cream (CLOSED) and Marcia's Sweet Pantry (CLOSED) Bring Good Taste to Wrentham, MA ![]() Article and photos by Eric H. Helping spearhead the way to this small-town renaissance was Tootsie's Ice Cream and Marcia's Sweet Pantry. Tootsie's, a friendly 1950s-style ice cream parlor with a touch of tie-dye Ben and Jerry's staff personality, came on the downtown scene first. Instantly drawing crowds with is delicious, densely-flavored ice cream (we love the mint chocolate chip, real vanilla, and chocolate) and an ideal summer scenario with air conditioning inside and a wonderfully large deck on the outside, Tootsie's soon became synonymous with downtown Wrentham. With bicycles often parked out front, welcoming Adirondack chairs and an American flag near the door, and a neon ice cream cone and Cappuccino and Espresso lettering on the windows, Tootsie's looks like a scene out of "Leave It To Beaver." Across the street from Tootsie's is the beautifully expansive town common where locals eat their ice cream on one of the town common benches -- especially during the summer Sunday night concert on the common events. Tootsie's is also a great destination after a summer swim at Lake Pearl Beach -- just minutes from the downtown -- or after shopping at the Wrentham Outlets. Marcia's Sweet Pantry, right next door to Tootsie's, is another marvelous, independently-owned downtown business combining an old-fashioned candy store and bakery (penny candy, hard-to-find candy bars, chocolates dessert platters, custom cakes, whoopee pies, cannolis, etc.) with a new age, country store presence (wind chimes, clothing, oil diffusers, organic teas, syrups, jams, honey, doll clothing, etc.). Marcia is a very nice lady, offering a warm "hello," great customer service and some truly delicious sweets. It's hard to leave the store without having your taste buds, stomach and soul feel good about this old-fashioned gem of a store. Together, Tootsie's and Marcia's make a terrific summer combination, sweet in nature and taste in a downtown now as nice as any in the region! ![]() Enjoying an ice cream across the street from Tootsie's at the beautiful Wrentham Town Common ![]() Marcia's Sweet Pantry and Tootsie's Ice Cream (right), as part of the vibrant downtown Wrentham, MA, scene Tootsie's Ice Cream 36 South St Wrentham, MA 02093 (508) 384-0967‎
