Travel Essay of Small Town Life in the Southwest Suburbs of Boston Article and photo by Eric H.
Along the way, you'll experience
beautiful parks like Bird Park,
and authentic family-owned farms like the Big Apple in
Wrentham and Jane
and Paul's Farm in Norfolk. Some of the downtown districts have
real New England charm, too, with attractive town commons, churches
with tall white steeples and historic homes -- Wrentham, Dedham
and Walpole, in particular. It's really small town life at its best,
whether ice skating at Turner Pond, taking in a movie at the
old-fashioned Dedham Community Theater, or having lunch at an
authentic luncheonette called Ruthie's Diner, located in Medfield's landmark Lord's Department
Store. That's not to say that the southwest of
Boston area is "out in the sticks." Gillette Stadium -- home of the New
England Patriots -- is located in Foxboro, as is the highly fun Patriot Place
entertainment and shopping complex. North Attleboro has the Emerald
Square Mall, one of the biggest malls in Massachusetts. Dedham features
the beautiful Legacy Place open air shopping complex, while
Wrentham has a world-class shopping outlet, the Wrentham Premium Outlets. People travel from all
over the world to visit this spectacular place to shop. The Route 1 and
Route 1A corridors from Dedham to North Attleboro feature hundreds of
restaurants for every taste. With solid schools, beautiful land and
close-knit ways, this area would be a great place to raise a family
when looking in the Boston to Providence area (for the record, I am not
in real estate and have no vested interest in any of these towns!) We hope you enjoy the slide show. This
presentation is not meant to focus on attractions and other things to
o, but just to give you a sense of the area. We hope you enjoy visiting
Southwest of Boston! |
